Despacito from Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi Luis Fonsi, who is a Puerto Rican singer Daddy Yankee became the song most streamed at the time within less than six months. It was a mixture of pop music and reggaeton has not just brought interest in reggaeton but also attracted attention towards Latin music more generally. The Billboard Top 100 featured two songs which were Spanish predominantly, as well as four in 2016. At the peak of Despacito's popularity in 2017, 19 songs mainly composed in Spanish reached into the Top 100. It climbed to 41 by 2020. In the wake of Justin Bieber's dual remix Despacito (2017), a number of bilingual remixes Despacito (2017) popular musicians soon started collaborating with reggaeton performers including Drake and Bad Bunny on MIA (2018) and Madonna and Maluma on Medellin (2019). In 2020, several Reggaeton artists were complaining about the trend of the genre toward the mainstream. But a newer generation, such as Rauw Alejandro was keen to maintain the development. He often incorporated elements from electronic dance music and other forms.
