Lucy Liu (born Lucy Liu) is an American actor, voice actress as well as a director producer and singer. An intelligent and attractive actress she serves as an inspiration for numerous Asian actors who want to make it big in Hollywood. In the wake of a number of first appearances in some popular series her fame was boosted by joining the cast of the legal comedy series Ally McBeal where she played the evil Ling Woo. The actress put her rapid fame into major screen roles in films including Shanghai Noon and Charlie's Angels. She then delivered an outstanding performance as Japanese criminal lord O'Ren Ishii as part of Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill Volume 1. The actress also played the lead role in box-office failures such as Rise: Blood Hunter. She then started voicing prominent characters in animated films such as Kung Fu Panda and Tinker Bell. Mia Mason, in Cashmere Mafia and other small-screen characters did not achieve any successes. A recurring role in the critically-acclaimed police drama series Southland allowed her to regain recognition as an actress of note. Liu is very careful in selecting her roles in order it doesn't result in her being isolated in an extremely in-demand industry. She has accepted her Chinese background, but doesn't let it limit her artistically.
